So That Happened

Catalina Classic, 2015

Brutal.  Still putting it all together and sorting through the pictures, video, and updates from the paddlers; but, from my front row seat it was ugly.  Of the race, one paddler wrote that 90% of his mind was telling the other 10% to stop, and that his body simply refused to respond to input.  I witnessed heartbreaking withdrawals and some inspired paddling in tough conditions–congratulations to everyone that finished the race.  More to come soon…

This…pretty much the entire race.

Two Mile *cue 80s dance jam*

The first paddle after more than two months off…  What can I say?  I have holes that are still visible in the shoulder, lots of grinding noises, but it was being back in the water that “made my day.”  I was about as tough as 80s dance jam (which means not at all)…but, I was so stoked.

For all those folks going under the knife, or healing broken bones, dealing with new/old work, shit schedules, or frayed relationships…keep paddling.
